At-Home Paternity Tests:

At-Home Paternity Tests offer a convenient option for individuals to collect DNA samples in the privacy of their own home. These tests do not require the establishment of a legal chain of custody, which means that the results are generally not admissible in court. They are suitable for personal knowledge but not for legal proceedings.

Legal Paternity Tests, on the other hand, are designed to meet the standards required for legal documentation. They necessitate a strict chain of custody performed by an AABB accredited lab, which involves DNA samples being collected by an impartial third-party professional.

The individuals being tested must present state-issued identification at the appointment, and the collector typically takes photographs of the parties involved.

Because of these stringent procedures, the results of a legal paternity test are admissible in court and can be utilized for legal matters, including child custody, child support, immigration, and social security benefits.
