What is At-Home DNA Testing?
A home DNA paternity test kit is a simple and convenient genetic test that can confirm whether an alleged father is biologically related to a child.
By using a non-invasive cheek swab, individuals can easily collect DNA samples in the privacy of their own home, or any place where they deem private. Once collected, the DNA samples are shipped to our accredited partner laboratory for analysis.

All DNA specimens will be processed and analyzed by our partner laboratory AABB accredited, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and reliability in testing all DNA specimens.
Please keep in mind home DNA tests are for informational purposes only. Therefore, At-Home DNA Test results are not legally admissible. While our Home Tests are intended for informational use only and cannot be used legally, the results are tested to the same strict protocols as legal paternity tests.

How the process works:
Getting started with a peace of mind paternity test is simple. Below is a brief outline of what you can expect from our At-Home Paternity Testing process.
- Order below or contact our office at 888-204-0583 to purchase your DNA kit by phone.
- After you purchase your test kit, please allow up to 24 hours or one business day to ship your kit to your home.
- Once you receive your kit, follow the instructions on how to collect your DNA samples. Sign the chain-of-custody form. Place all of the contents you receive inside of the prepaid return envelope you received and ship your genetic samples back to the lab for analysis.
- When the lab receives all of your genetic samples. Please allow 2 to 3 business days for your results to be completed. Upon the completion of your results, a copy will be sent to your physical home address and a copy will be sent by email.
What is the method DNA sample collection?
The standard method of DNA sample collection is performed by cheek swab. Blood sample collections have the same accuracy as a cheek swab sample. This collection method is more invasive, more expensive and painful.

Please note that the IDTO DNA Testing Center’s partner laboratory does not share any personal or genetic information with third-party companies.
All information provided to our partner laboratory is kept secure and will only be released to third parties with the explicit consent of the participants involved or by court order. DNA samples on file are kept for 3 months on average and then destroyed.

Yes. DNA test kits can be shipped to different locations. After selecting the option for shipping to multiple locations during checkout, we will contact you via email to request the secondary address.
Please note: Residents of New York State are not eligible to purchase this testing option, as the sale of At-Home DNA Test kits is prohibited under New York State Department of Health regulations
Are DNA results confidential?
Yes. Your DNA results are kept confidential. Results will only be released to the individuals directly involved with DNA testing for paternity
Please note that IDTO and its partner laboratory do not share your DNA information with third-party companies. Furthermore, DNA samples are destroyed within 30 to 60 days after your DNA test is completed.
