DNA Testing Long Island NY Services

IDTO DNA provides paternity testing and related DNA testing services for residents in Long Island and throughout New York State, and nationwide. After more than 22 years coordinating DNA testing cases, we have learned that many delays and complications occur before a DNA sample is ever collected. Families often discover too late that they selected the wrong testing option, performed testing for the wrong purpose, or failed to establish the proper chain of custody required for legal use.

Our role is to help clients determine which DNA testing option best fits their circumstances before testing begins. Whether your goal is establishing paternity for child support, custody, birth certificate amendments, immigration matters, or legal peace of mind, we help guide you through the process from start to finish.

All DNA samples are tested and analyzed by our partner AABB-accredited laboratory. This accreditation requires a documented chain of custody for legal DNA testing and helps ensure the results are recognized by Long Island family courts, government agencies, and immigration authorities nationwide.

How will my DNA samples be collected?

The standard method of DNA sample collection for Long Island residents is a simple cheek swab. During the collection process, a cotton swab is gently rubbed against the inside of the participant’s cheek to collect DNA cells for laboratory analysis.

Alternative DNA sample collection methods, such as blood samples, may be available in certain situations. However, blood samples do not provide greater accuracy than a cheek swab. Both specimen types can produce the same accurate DNA test results when properly collected and analyzed.

The cheek swab method is recommended because it is quick, non-invasive, painless, and cost-effective.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take to receive my paternity test results?

Turnaround time for results to be completed for Long Island residents is 3 business days from the date on which the lab receives all genetic samples.

Will my DNA results be accepted by Immigration agency?

Yes. Immigration agencies accept DNA testing for immigration purposes when the petitioner has received an RFE from an agency such as USCIS or a U.S. Embassy.

Submitting DNA test results as evidence of a biological relationship without an RFE may lead to denial because the evidence may not meet chain–of–custody guidelines for immigration submissions.

Can DNA Testing be performed if each person resides in different cities?

Yes. When one party resides in a different city and we have a facility in our network near the city where the other party resides, testing can be scheduled. For example, in cases where one person resides in Long Island we can schedule an appointment one of locations like our Manhattan location.

Call 888-204-0583 for free phone consultation or to schedule an appointment today.

Can I use an At-Home Paternity Test Kit in Long Island NY?

No. You cannot perform a home paternity test in New York State. The NYSDOH strictly prohibits the sale of at-home DNA test kits to residents.

All DNA tests must be conducted as legally admissible tests with a chain of custody to comply with NYSDOH guidelines.
