Are you petitioning for a child, parent, or sibling and been asked by USCIS or the Kingston Embassy to provide additional evidence of your biological relationship? If yes, IDTO can assist with your family’s immigration DNA testing needs
What is a Jamaica Immigration DNA Test?
An immigration DNA test is a genetic test that determines biological relationships between parents and children, siblingship, and with grandparents and grandchildren. This test provides secondary proof of relationship for beneficiaries seeking a U.S. visa and a Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA).
It is important to note, all DNA services we provide are performed by our partner AABB Accredited DNA Parentage Testing Laboratory to conduct legal chain of custody testing for immigration purposes.
Types of DNA Testing
Below are the types of genetic testing services for immigration evidence submission:
- Paternity Testing: This test determines whether an alleged biological father is related to a child.
- Maternity Testing: This test determines whether a mother is related to her child.
- Sibling DNA Testing: This test determines whether two people share one or both parents.
- Grandparent DNA Testing: This test determines whether an alleged grandparent is biologically related to a grandchild.
Documentation Required for DNA Immigration Testing
To perform a DNA test for evidence submission to an immigration agency, the following documents are required:
- USCIS Request for Evidence letter
- U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate request for additional evidence letter
Sample Collection Method
The standard method for DNA sample collection involves using a cheek cotton swab. Each swab is placed inside the mouth and brushed against the cheek for 30 seconds. Blood samples offer a testing option with accuracy comparable to that of cotton swabs.
Please Note: Beneficiaries will have their DNA sample collection appointments by the embassy and not by the laboratory.

The cost of an immigration test depends on several factors, including the location of the participants. Determine whether all parties reside in Jamaica or if the petitioner lives in the U.S. while the beneficiary lives in Jamaica.
The cost of your DNA test varies based on your specific circumstances. Contact our office at 888-204-0583 to inquire about costs for your situation.
How long will it take to receive my DNA results?
The turnaround time tested to be completed is 3 business days from the date the laboratory received all genetic samples. The entire process to be completed on average is 6 to 8 weeks.
Getting Started:
The immigration DNA testing process in Jamaica is straightforward. To begin, the petitioner must receive a letter or email from either a USCIS office or the Embassy in Kingston. Without this correspondence, initiating a DNA test that immigration will accept is not possible.
- Receive Your Request for Evidence Letter: Upon receipt, contact our office at 888-204-0583 to start the process.
- Coordinate Sample Collection:
- If the petitioner is in the U.S., we will arrange for their sample collection and send a DNA test kit to the Embassy in Kingston.
- If all parties are in Jamaica, the lab will coordinate the shipment of a DNA test kit to the Embassy. The Embassy will handle the DNA sample collection in Jamaica.
- Important Note: The laboratory does not coordinate DNA sample collection appointments for families in Jamaica; only the Embassy manages this process.
- Shipping Samples for Testing: After sample collection, the beneficiary’s DNA sample will be sent back to our partner DNA lab for analysis.
- Receive Test Results: Once testing is complete, results will be sent to the requesting immigration agency, and an additional copy will be emailed to you, and mailed to your home address.
