Can I get a DNA Test done for free?
No. IDTO DNA does not offer free DNA testing. Periodically, we run promotions for specific DNA tests at discounted prices. Our at-home DNA test kits and shipping are free; you pay only for the DNA analysis.
Paternity testing scheduled through family courts is not free in most cases. One of two options may apply:
- Lower-cost legal paternity tests: Turnaround time for results may be six weeks or longer depending on the jurisdiction where testing was performed. We offer legal paternity testing with a turnaround time of 2 to 3 business days from the date the lab receives all genetic samples. Click here to learn more about legal paternity testing.
- State-covered costs: A state may cover the cost of a legal paternity test. Coverage depends on the financial situation of the participants involved in the DNA test.
Can I do a DNA test on my phone?
No. Currently, we are unaware of technology that can determine biological relationship on phone through app.
At-Home DNA Test kits can be purchased online at idtodna.com or contact us by phone at 888-204-0583.
Are DNA Tests accurate?
DNA relationship testing can determine biological relationships with a very high probability when performed using validated methods and proper sample handling.
Accuracy depends on the specific test used, sample quality, and adherence to chain-of-custody procedures; typical paternity tests report inclusion probabilities >99.9% and exclusion probabilities near 0% when performed correctly.
All DNA samples are tested and analyzed by our partner laboratory, which holds AABB accreditation.
AABB accreditation indicates the laboratory follows defined quality and procedural standards, including validated methods, trained personnel, and documented processes; chain-of-custody procedures are available upon request for legal cases.
Results from AABB-accredited laboratories are commonly accepted by many family courts, embassies, and consulates.
Acceptance varies by jurisdiction and institution; clients should confirm with the specific court, embassy, or consulate whether additional documentation or specific collection procedures are required for legal or immigration purposes.
