Do hospitals perform paternity tests at birth?

Hospitals normally do not provide or offer paternity testing services after the birth of a child as we understand it. Normally, a head nurse or doctor will refer a company like IDTO to their patient to schedule an appointment.


Can I have my DNA samples collected at the hospital?

Yes. Oftentimes DNA sample collections can be performed at the hospital but it will require permission from the hospital staff.

Please Note: New York State residents must acquire one of the following instruments before performing a paternity test or any other related DNA relationship test.

1. A prescription referral from a New York State licensed Doctor.

2. A letter from a New York State licensed Attorney.

3. A court order from a judge requesting you perform a DNA test.

4. A letter from a governmental agency such as USCIS. Passport Agency or An Embassy. Normally, families who are petitioning for a child or parent will require the use of this letter.
