How Much Does a DNA Test For Child Support Cost?

We understand the importance for unmarried parents to establish the paternity of a child and the challenges that can occur when individuals do not agree. When this happens, either the alleged father or the mother can file a paternity petition in Family Court.

Once the petition is accepted, the judge will issue a court order. The judge will request that a paternity test be performed to confirm paternity. Note that filing a petition does not guarantee the petition will be accepted.

There are two ways a DNA test for child support purposes may be performed:

  1. The judge issues a court order to perform a DNA paternity test.
  2. Both the alleged father and the mother agree to perform a legal paternity test without state oversight.

All legal DNA testing services we provide are performed by our partner, an Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies (AABB) accredited laboratory. This accreditation means your results will be accepted in court. Learn more about child support DNA testing costs below.
