How can DNA testing help with immigration cases?
DNA testing helps prove biological relationships, typically between parents and children, siblings and grandparent and grandchild relationship in family-based immigration petitions when initial documentary evidence (such as birth certificates, medical or family records) are unavailable, insufficient, or inconsistent.
DNA testing is a voluntary evidence submission option that may be suggested by one of the following immigration agencies:
- The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS),
- U.S. Embassies/U.S. Consulates,
- and U.S. Passport Agencies.
