Yes. Twin DNA testing is highly accurate when DNA samples are collected under proper chain-of-custody procedures and analyzed by an accredited laboratory. Every DNA sample undergoes a dual-analysis process to help ensure accurate and reliable results.
All legal Twin DNA Tests are performed through our partner AABB-accredited laboratory. This accreditation helps ensure the results are accepted by family courts, immigration agencies, and other government institutions throughout the United States.
Our partner laboratory analyzes 18 to 22 highly informative genetic markers during the Twin DNA Test to determine whether twins are identical (monozygotic) or fraternal (dizygotic). When a statistical probability is reported for relationship testing, inclusion results commonly exceed 99%.
Some laboratories advertise testing 45 or more genetic markers. While this may sound more comprehensive, analyzing additional markers generally does not improve the accuracy of a routine Twin DNA Test once a sufficient number of informative markers have already produced a conclusive result. In most cases, additional markers provide little or no meaningful increase in statistical confidence.
